Description:

The Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet (996) represents the ultimate evolution of the water-cooled 996 generation. As the final and most comprehensively equipped version of the 996 Turbo, it combines the legendary Mezger flat-six engine with the most advanced technology Porsche had to offer at the time. Produced exclusively during the final year of 996 production, the Turbo S came standard with the X50 Powerkit, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), all-wheel drive and an exceptionally generous level of equipment. Today, it is widely regarded as one of the most desirable and exclusive modern classics to emerge from Stuttgart.

This example was first registered on 10 May 2005 and was delivered new in Germany. Since 17 May 2011, it has remained in the hands of its current owner, a passionate Porsche enthusiast from Luxembourg. The car also benefits from a valid roadworthiness inspection until 2 October 2026.

At its heart lies the legendary 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged Mezger flat-six engine. Equipped as standard with the X50 Powerkit, it produces 450 horsepower (331 kW), delivering performance that remains genuinely impressive even by modern sports car standards. Derived directly from Porsche's successful motorsport programme, the Mezger engine is widely regarded as one of the most robust, capable and celebrated engines ever produced by the marque.

With total production limited to approximately 963 examples worldwide, the 996 Turbo S Cabriolet ranks among the rarest modern production 911s. Although Porsche never published an official breakdown between manual and Tiptronic-equipped cars, the six-speed manual transmission is widely regarded by enthusiasts as the most desirable configuration. Combined with the Mezger engine and open-top bodywork, it makes the Turbo S Cabriolet one of the purest and most sought-after variants of the water-cooled 911.

This example features an extensively leather-trimmed interior, including the dashboard, centre console, steering column, speaker grilles, various interior panels and even the ignition switch surround. The sport seats are upholstered in natural leather and embossed with the Porsche crest on the headrests, further emphasising the exclusive character of this Turbo S.

Factory specification is exceptionally comprehensive and includes, among other features:

  • Six-speed manual transmission.
  • X50 Powerkit (450 hp).
  • Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB).
  • Permanent all-wheel drive.
  • 18-inch Turbo II alloy wheels finished in GT Silver Metallic.
  • Heated sport seats upholstered in natural leather.
  • Fully electric convertible roof.
  • Detachable factory hardtop.
  • Wind deflector.
  • Bi-Xenon headlights with headlamp washers.
  • Porsche Stability Management (PSM).
  • Cruise control.
  • Park Distance Control.
  • PCM 2 with navigation, GSM telephone module and Bose Sound Package.
  • CD changer.
  • Automatically dimming interior and exterior mirrors.
  • Rain sensor.
  • Stainless steel exhaust tailpipes.
  • Aluminium-look instrument dials.
  • Numerous leather appointments from the Porsche Exclusive programme.

More recently, the car has been upgraded with Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM). Developed by Porsche specifically for its classic models, this infotainment system seamlessly combines the original appearance of the dashboard with modern features including navigation, Bluetooth, digital media and Apple CarPlay. As a result, contemporary convenience is integrated without compromising the car's authentic character or factory appearance.

For many Porsche enthusiasts, the 996 Turbo S Cabriolet represents the end of a remarkable era: the final open-top 911 Turbo powered by the legendary Mezger engine. Combined with the highly desirable six-speed manual gearbox, full Turbo S specification, extensive Porsche Exclusive equipment and the recently installed PCCM system, this example clearly stands apart from the majority of 996 Turbos offered on today's market. With its limited production, outstanding specification and carefully preserved ownership history, it represents an exceptional opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts seeking one of the most desirable modern classic 911s. The vehicle's history is known and documented. The full CARFAX report can be found among the photos.
